Raising Funds Through Adventure

Who I am

Back Story ...

In my younger days, I was a rubbish footballer, playing on the IOW on Saturdays and Sundays. Described as an “aging liberio”, once as a “big game player” but most often as the “friendly defender”!

By the time I hit my mid 30’s, I decided to hang up my boots and after several years of doing no exercise but continuing to eat the same, I realised that I needed to do something. After running around the block and nearly dying, I gradually found an enjoyment of running, joined the Isle of Wight Road Runners and built up finally to the marathon distance with London being my first and I hated it! On my 7th attempt, I managed to get under the holy grail of amateur marathon runners finishing time, completing Brighton in 3 hours 57 minutes and swore to never run one again 😊

I then had a few years of learning and competing in coastal rowing which was excellent fun and the nice thing is that regardless of age, you start as a novice. COVID disrupted my fledgling rowing career and then a chance call with a business associate, has led to various adventures which hopefully will continue for many years to come. To raise awareness of “Zoe’s Law”, Charlie Panayi was planning 10 challenges in 9 months, which started with “Walk the Wight”. I agreed to join him to take on Kilimanjaro in October 2023 and summit day was one of the hardest things that I’ve ever done.

In March 2024, we went to Nepal and after an amazing flight into Lukla airport, the most dangerous in the world, enjoyed an 8 day trek to Everest Base Camp. Subsequently, we completed the National 3 Peaks in under 24 hours and now plan to do Mont Blanc in 2025.

I’ve also foolishly agreed to run London Marathon again in aid of Wessex Cancer Support and decided to create this website to record past, present and future escapades….
